FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to his Football Kenya Federation counterpart to convey his condolences on the death of Mitsul Shah, chairman of Kenyan outfit Bidco Football Club. Blatter also paid warm tribute to Shah, who died in the act of saving dozens of young lives during the recent siege at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi.

The FIFA President wrote: “I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Kenyan football community on hearing of the tragic death of Bidco Football Club chairman Mr Mitsul Shah during the tragic incidents at the Westgate Mall.

“At the same time, I would like to express my deepest admiration for his heroism in saving the lives of 20 children before losing his own life as he attempted to rescue more innocent victims. Rest assured that I will inform the FIFA Executive Committee of the heroic actions of this member of the international football community at our meeting this week.

"Our thoughts are with Mr Shah’s friends and family at this sad time.”
