A delegation from News Corporation, the group which includes Fox Sports, led by its CEO Rupert Murdoch, paid a visit to the Home of FIFA on 26 January 2012.

The News Corporation delegation included Chase Carey, the Deputy Chairman and Chief Operating Officer for News Corporation, and David Hill, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Fox Sports Media Group. They met with FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, FIFA TV Director Niclas Ericson and FIFA Communications Director Walter De Gregorio. The delegations discussed the contract signed by FOX Sports with FIFA last October.

Fox (including radio rights) together with NBC Universal’s Telemundo Media (Spanish-language, excluding radio rights) acquired the exclusive US media rights to FIFA World Cup™ football across all platforms from 2015 to 2022, which includes the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and other FIFA events.

Murdoch and Blatter also discussed how to promote football in the USA and worldwide as a Media Rights Licensee for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
