On the afternoon of Friday 13 January, FIFA World Cup Sponsor Yingli Solar provided a memorable experience for a group of lucky Chinese schoolchildren by organising a challenge football match at a primary school in Beijing’s disadvantaged Dongcheng district which was attended by one of FIFA’s most valuable assets.

As well as having the opportunity to show off their football skills to their classmates and members of the media, the children, from Huimin Primary School in Beijing and Hebei Primary School in Baoding, were able to pose for photos with the FIFA World Cup Trophy. This was an inspirational experience for Haokun Zheng, one of Hebei Primary School’s star players:

“I want to dream of winning the World Cup Trophy as my ultimate goal,” he said. “From now on I will play harder and train harder so that I can make this dream come true!”
The event was part of Yingli Solar’s drive to highlight the benefits which playing football can have for young people in China, with the aim of attracting more children to actively participate in the sport.

“Yingli is committed to society. As an Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup, we are honoured to be able to contribute to our community with the rights from our marketing platforms,” said Ms Judy Tzeng Lee, Director of Global Marketing and Development of Yingli Solar.

Before travelling back to Switzerland, the trophy made one final stop at Yingli Solar’s Baoding headquarters, where the renewable energy company’s 20,000 staff members and their families were able to get a glimpse of the trophy.
