FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has retained his place on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s 70 most powerful people.

The Swiss has risen two places to 63rd on the annual compilation, which is topped by the USA’s president Barack Obama.

Impressively, Blatter is one of only two sporting figures on the list, which has a strong number of politicians. The other is International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge, who is 68th.

Blatter was appointed FIFA President in 1998 and won a fourth term in the role in June.

Forbes magazine, which was first published in 1917, is a biweekly American publication which is renowned for its ranked lists.
