FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter met the President of the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL), Sir David Richards, together with EPFL Vice-President Frédéric Thiriez and CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich today (Tuesday, 22 July 2008).

They were joined by FIFA Director of International Relations Jérôme Champagne.

During this most cordial of meetings, the FIFA President explained to the EPFL representatives the philosophy and format of 6+5 as adopted and defined by the 58th FIFA Congress in Sydney last May.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the state of football at national, European and global level.
