The FIFA Executive Committee, chaired by President Joseph S. Blatter, will convene on Thursday and Friday, 23-24 October 2008, for its third meeting in 2008. The agenda features a wide range of topics, with the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the bidding process for FIFA competitions and the international match calendar for 2008-2014 as some of the key topics.

Following inspections in September and October and the recent LOC board meeting on 3 October, the FIFA executive will be given updates on the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the current status of preparations for FIFA's flagship competition as well as that of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009.

In the area of competitions, there will be reports on the Olympic Football Tournaments in Beijing, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Marseilles and the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil. The preparations for the other FIFA events in 2008, such as the U-17 and U-20 Women's World Cups in New Zealand and Chile respectively, and the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan will also be reviewed.

Information will be provided on the various standing committee meetings that have taken place since the previous meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee, including the meetings that will take place during the week 21-24 October (the schedule for these is linked on the right-hand side of this page).

Finally, a number of legal and sports political matters are also tabled, such as those relating to member associations, including a review of the current situation of the Polish FA (PZPN).
