The set of governance reforms approved by the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich on 26 February 2016 included a clear separation of strategic and management functions within FIFA. The FIFA Statutes that came into force in April 2016 define the FIFA Council, which replaced the FIFA Executive Committee, as a non-executive, supervisory and strategic body that sets the vision for FIFA and global football.

They will next meet on the 15th and 16th of March 2018 in Bogota, Colombia.
